All we need is peace and patience. All we witness is war, destruction and death. Why is it so difficult to live in brotherhood? Why are innocent people abused, beaten, made to suffer, killed? Why is the thirst for power so blind to human rights?
We, students of 3LSAC and 4LSAC, met in April (5th,9th,12th,22nd) in F.0.6 lab at school to discuss peace negotiations for the current war Russia-Ukraine. We simulated a United Nations General Assembly which lasted two hours per class group. The members of the round table were the following: ONU President Guterres as coordinator, ONU secretary Dujarric, China President XiJinping and EU Ursula Von Der Leyen as mediators, Ukraine President Zelenskyj, Ukraine Ministers of Defence and Economy, Russia President Putin, Russia Ministers of Defence and Economy as delegates.
The peace talks were lively but fair as there was the common will to reach an agreement. Diplomacy won and a compromise was found. The resolution is the final written document here attached: the operative clauses are interesting to read. Unfortunately, the peace talks are now at a standstill but we truly hope these proposals will anticipate the real Peace Treaty in the immediate future.
Our next April move was the participation in the Perugia-Assisi peace march called STOP the WAR. We, students of 2LSAC, 3LSAC, 4LSA C, dressed with the colourful peace flags walked for 24 km from Perugia to Assisi on 24th April 2022. What a memorable experience! Gentle green landscapes, the warm sun, the jolly company of people sharing our desire for peace and solidarity, the smiling faces in the crowd, the pleasure of being with school friends.
These adjectives were used to define the peace march experience: unforgettable, unique, impressive, meaningful, fantastic, amusing, cheerful, exciting, challenging, inspiring, wonderful.
