Rachele Pertoldi is a student of the second year of Applied Sciences at ISIS Malignani. This year she participated for the second time at the Cividale del Friuli Model United Nations UNESCO Assembly (3rd- 6th December 2016) organized by the students of the Convitto Nazionale Paolo Diacono. She was the delegate of the Russian Federation in the Committee on the Status of Women and she was nominated BEST DELEGATE for her passionate contribution to the debates on the following issues: “The question of the establishment of a female microcredit for women” and “The question of health-care in pregnancy”.
These are the words Rachele used to define the extraordinary experience of the CFMUNESCO 2016: “I decided to join in because I strongly believe that we, teenagers, must act, react and impact in the world we live in. No big changes can happen unless we personally involve ourselves in ambitious projects. The MUN event is a moment of sharing and caring, a time of great dreams and expectations, an occasion to work together for a resolution that might bring a wind of change in this world. I worked hard this year, I really challenged myself when I talked in front of the other delegates proposing convincing arguments in favour of the well-being of women.
I remember last year: how shy I was, how embarrassed I felt while talking to an audience, how difficult it was to express my thoughts in English. This year it was much better: I was more confident with my English and my opinions, I was more active and productive. What a great satisfaction to get the award: BEST DELEGATE of my committee! I invite you all to try this challenging experience. You will become cosmopolitan citizens, young people willing to destroy walls and to build bridges.”
In her opening speech as ambassador of the Russian Federation Rachele wrote: “We have the world in our hands, we must ensure to grow and become better.” We (Jacopo and Alessia) also took part to the CFMUNESCO 2016 in Cividale and we invite you all to join in next year. You are the new generation: you can make a difference in this world through creative and peaceful solutions for the several serious issues of today’s society. Why don’t you start now?
